DEADPOOL MOVIE PANEL

One of the highlights from this year's Silicon Valley Comic Con was the Deadpool Movie Panel, complete with Director Tim Miller and crew. Joe Kach attended the very-packed, chimichanga-filled session. Read on for highlights and pictures!

The panel, officially titled "Tim & Blur Studio's Tips on Winning the Deadpool," was one of the most-crowded of the day. Director Tim Miller was joined by his team from Blue Studios: Franck BalsonVincent BriseboisSergej C Eichmann, and Derron Ross. There were definitely some humorous moments, and Miller has quite the potty mouth. But I could also sense a bit of nervous awkwardness from the group who clearly was not used to this level of attention. There was a brief introduction, followed by a screening of FX footage, and closed-out with a Q&A session. Here are the highlights!

Miller and and star Ryan Reynolds loved that the Deadpool mask had magnetic eye sockets. It made filming, and breathing, much easier.

Blur Studios has been active for 22 years, and this is Miller's first directed feature.

They overcame a lot of hurdles bringing this film to life, and once it was green-lit, they needed to make a bigger movie with a smaller budget by using lots of CGI.

The teaser that was leaked back in 2013 (still no one to claim ownership) was fully CGI.

Five years ago, 20th Century Fox passed on the film. Thanks to the leak and Reynolds' involvement and pushing, it eventually got made. Miller used to ask, "Who do I have to fuck to get this thing made?"

If you look closely, all of the bad guys in the leaked teaser had the same face.

Reynolds is "pretty fucking awesome" at the stunts. He wore the suit uniquely. He had a different look in suit than the stunt guys.

The producers asked for the jokes in the opening credits.

There were other studios outside of Blur that did VFX work on the film.

The majority of the film was rendered digitally using digital storyboards before a single shot was done.

Miller said he had no problem telling people on set what to do, even if it was only his first film. He's been head of a studio for 22 years.

But he also had no problem saying he "didn't know shit".

He's still keen on making animated films, like The Goon

When asked about the "trick" to making Colossus worked, Miller divulged tat it required multiple actors, all of whom needed personality. Techinically, it wasn't much more difficult than other CG characters.

Miller has previously worked with James Cameron on Avatar.

Another bonus to the lead character wearing a full mask: they could easily alter lines in post-production.

Deadpool utilized the same stunt coordinator as the Daredevil series on Netflix

The hardest part of working on Deadpool for Miller? Being away from his wife ... which required lots of masturbating. Also: rendering Colossus' balls.

Tim's colleagues said he's the soul of Blur Studios.

Fox didn't really say no to any of their requests for the film. Miller was able to select the whole cast himself with no intervention. It was "almost a constant love fest," according to the director.

There was a scene called "Cancer World Tour" that was eventually cut from the script, mainly due to length and it being "a bummer".

Dr. Killbrew, from the Deadpool comics lore, was also cut from the script, as he took too much away from Ajax (Francis) being the villain.

An observation: Tim Miller has lots of tattoos.

Blur Studios, ironically, was denied from working on the Deadpool video game.

Here are some photos from the panel!
